REP. KEITH ELLISON MEETS WITH AILA MEMBERS AT IGBANUGO PARTNERS’ OFFICE

April 12, 2007 Discussion on Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR)

On April 12, 2007, Igbanugo Partners hosted a meeting between Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN) and members of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) to discuss Comprehensive Immigration Reform (CIR), which is now a hot issue on the legislative agenda of the 110th Congress.

Topics of discussion included the proposed increase in USCIS filing fees; human rights issues concerning the Liberian community; and, most pertinent, the STRIVE Act of 2007 (The Security Through Regularized Immigration and a Vibrant Economy Act, H.R. 1645) – a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill that was introduced in the House by Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) and Congressman Jeff Flake (R-AZ) on March 22, 2007. Rep. Ellison is a member of the House Immigration Subcomittee and is a co-sponsor of the STRIVE Act.
